Sail to Shelter

Founded in 2020 by Angela Abshier, Sail to Shelter intercepts retired Grand Prix and superyacht sails—materials that often end up in landfills—and repurposes them into durable, rapid-deploy shelter systems. Collaborating with architects, engineers, boatmakers, and global relief agencies, the nonprofit creates custom shade and shelter solutions—from community tents in Maui to refugee infrastructure in Poland and Mexico—extending both material lifecycle and humanitarian impact.
