HANNA YOO, the founder and creator of Hannayoo Works, has an extensive 20-year career in fashion that spans Seoul, Paris, and New York. In 2021, she established her own fashion house, Hannayoo Works, based in Brooklyn, NY.
From 2013 to 2022, Hanna served as the design director at the fashion brand Tibi, where she collaborated with the team for eight and a half years. Prior to her tenure at Tibi, she worked with British designer Victoria Bartlett at VPL after moving to New York from Paris.
Before relocating to the United States, Hanna lived in France for eight years until 2011. She graduated from l’Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in 2005 and worked at the French brand Barbara Bui for five years, assisting in the creation of over ten collections. Her fashion education began in Korea at Kyungpook National University, where she learned to create stories through colors, fabrics, and draping designs on dress forms, honing her skills like a sculptor.
Hanna was born and raised in Korea in a pastor’s family. Much of her inspiration stems from her childhood experiences in the church her father designed and built using red bricks, concrete, metal, and stone. These elements have profoundly influenced her creative spirit.
