Doris Izquierdo was born and raised in Mexico City. She has worked in the accessories industry for the past 8+ years in Mexico City, Florence, New York City, and Providence. In 2011 upon completing her Industrial Design degree from Mexico City and Australia, she started planning DOIZPE with her sister.
At the same time, she worked on multiple projects creating upcycled accessories for women and men in Mexico City. She moved to New York in 2012 where she learned more about the fashion industry collaborating with the renowned fashion designer Rolando Santana and at the Milk Studios. Simultaneously, she started creating handbags with embroidery and embellishment craftsmanship made by artisans in Mexico.
